Verizon Wireless Regional Headquarters
Laurel, MD
With extremely critical deadlines and seemingly impossible condensed schedules, Mazzuca Contracting was put to a major challenge for this occupied phased renovation. However, every phase was completed on time with little or no disruptions to Verizon Wireless’s employees or data center. The technical part of this project included downsizing an existing Data Center including removing a large portion of the existing FM 200 Fire Suppression System and modifying it for the downsized data center. A preaction sprinkler system was also added to the downsized data center. HVAC & Electrical modifications were made in a timely manner, which allowed for a seamless data center cut-over.
Major office & systems furniture modifications were made on two of the buildings three floors. New training rooms were constructed, and included new operable panel partitions with structural steel overhead supports. New ceramic tile and fresh paint finishes were installed in the cafeteria without disruption to its operation.
A key to this projects success and cleanliness was Mazzuca Contracting’s suggestion to use Negative Air Machines and dust control barriers to keep all construction dust contained for the well-being of Verizon’s Employees and its Data Center.
